Gerry was
born in 1948 and from a very early age he was enchanted by colour and
the magical effects of light. Indeed much of his boyhood was spent in
fields and woods among the wild beauty of his native Cornwall. Gerry Hillman's
academic training and career were science based but he continued to paint
and sell his work as an artist in parallel with his other professional
occupations. Gerry lives high on the moor in the parish of Linkinhorne with his partner Lois, and Jake. The roaming ponies, cattle and sheep graze up to the walls of their garden while Ravens, Croak and Buzzards cry in the wide sky above. The ruined engine houses and stakes of the Victorian copper and tin mines around are now mostly overgrown and reclaimed by Nature, and here and there are signs of Bronze Age settlements and early tin streaming and mineral workings. From Summer sun to Winter snow it's a rich, wild landscape for finding inspiration. His work is much sought after and is now available as high quality limited edition prints. Gerry also undertakes private commissions for customers (prices depend upon the nature of the subject and the amount of research needed - please contact him for more information).
