Badger Tracks

The old mill garden is now growing over with beech and hazel. Snowdrops have crept out from the lee of the hedge where once the miller's wife planted her shallots. Badgers have re-established their ancient track over the bank to the river.

The Old Drovers' Track

On a fine December morning the winter sun streaks across the ruined edges of an ancient drovers' track. The site of an 11th century monastery lies across the fields and this might once have been an important road, well before these massive beeches were ever there.

The East Drive

The old hall near the river was pulled down over fifty years ago and the East drive fell into disuse. Now it has become a cool glade which in May is scented with drifts of bluebells under the almost luminous, fresh green vaulted canopy of new beech leaves.
