Gerry Hillman Landscape Prints – Crows over the Cornfields
In 1890, Vincent van Gogh’s brother Theo had Vincent brought up to a sanatorium on the outskirts of Paris so he could keep a supportive eye on him. Vincent had recently had a torrid time at Arles in the south of France and the local people had him sectioned in the asylum there. He had become subject to violent mood swings, but in his last weeks at Auvers he painted prolifically.
Here I painted a lone figure heading back to his room through the cornfields, under an approaching thunderous sky, with the black crows flying overhead.
